Overview

Glenlossie, near Elgin, is a well-regarded blending malt — smooth, grassy and slightly waxy — that shares its site with the more modern Mannochmore. It is highly thought of within the industry but rarely bottled as a single malt.

The history

Glenlossie was founded in 1876 by John Duff (of Longmorn and BenRiach fame), and has worked quietly ever since as a Diageo blending malt, latterly alongside Mannochmore on the same site.

Glenlossie is made with water from the Bardon Burn.

Glenlossie had no founding clan — it was John Duff’s commercial venture near Elgin, in historic Grant/Gordon Moray.

Visiting

Glenlossie is not open to the public — it is a working production distillery with no visitor centre. Its whisky appears mainly in blends and in occasional official or independent single-malt bottlings.
