Overview
Aultmore, near Keith, makes a clean, grassy, well-regarded Speyside malt long treasured by blenders (it is a key Dewar’s filling) and by locals, who nicknamed it “a nip of the Buckie Road.”
The history
Aultmore was built from scratch in the 1890s whisky boom by the distiller Alexander Edward, on land acquired from the Duke of Fife. It has been a Dewar’s (now Bacardi) blending malt for most of its life, with occasional single-malt releases.

Aultmore draws on the Auchinderran Burn and the Foggie Moss springs above Keith.
Aultmore had no founding clan — it was Alexander Edward’s commercial build on Banffshire farmland bought from the Duke of Fife (the Duff family).
Visiting
Aultmore is not open to the public — it is a working production distillery with no visitor centre. Its whisky appears mainly in blends and in occasional official or independent single-malt bottlings.
