Overview
InchDairnie, near Glenrothes in Fife, is a deliberately innovation-focused Lowland distillery — experimenting with different grains (including rye), unusual yeasts and novel processes to make distinctive whiskies. It keeps a low public profile while its whisky matures.
The history
InchDairnie was built by industry veteran Ian Palmer and began production in 2016, designed from the start as a technically advanced, experimental distillery rather than a traditional one. Its releases, including a rye whisky, are only beginning to appear.
The water & the land
InchDairnie draws on the Flowers of May and Goathill springs.
InchDairnie has no clan link — it is a modern innovation-led distillery in the old coal-and-linen country of central Fife, near Glenrothes.
Visiting
InchDairnie is not open to the public (a visitor centre has been proposed) — visits are occasional and invitation-only; check the website.
