Overview
Eden Mill, near St Andrews, is best known for its gins, but it has now returned to single-malt whisky in a smart new distillery at Guardbridge — making it a whisky destination on the doorstep of the home of golf.
The history
Eden Mill was founded in 2012 as a combined brewery, gin and whisky operation on the site of an old paper mill by the River Eden. After a pause, it opened a new, purpose-built distillery in 2025 and recommenced single-malt production, on the site of a distillery that had operated here in the 19th century.
The water & the land
Eden Mill uses local water at Guardbridge, on the Eden estuary.
Eden Mill has no clan link — it is an industrial-heritage site by St Andrews, the ancient university town and home of golf, on the old paper-mill grounds at Guardbridge.
Visiting
Eden Mill’s new distillery offers visitor experiences and tours — check the website. It combines naturally with a trip to St Andrews and the Fife coast.
