Overview
Dalmunach, at Carron, is one of the newest and most beautiful of the big Speyside distilleries — a striking, award-winning modern building raised on the site of the demolished Imperial distillery, feeding the Chivas Regal and Ballantine’s blends.
The history
Dalmunach was built in 2014–15 and opened in 2015, replacing the old Imperial distillery (1897) that had stood on the site. Its stills were arranged in a graceful circle, and it won architectural praise as a modern industrial building done well.
The water & the land
Dalmunach uses the old Imperial water source — the Ballintomb burn from the Mannoch Hills.
Dalmunach had no founding clan — it is a modern Chivas build on the Imperial site at Carron, on the Grant lands of Strathspey.
Visiting
Dalmunach is not open to the public — it is a working production distillery. Its whisky appears mainly in blends and in occasional official or independent single-malt bottlings.
